Overview
Emerging researcher with a Master's in Geography of Environmental Risks and Human Security, and a background in Disaster Management. After gaining over two and a half years of experience in the development sector and working on adaptation research, I pursued my Master's, where I developed a strong interest in Loss and Damage (L&D). My thesis on Non-Economic Loss and Damage (NELD) further fueled my passion for this critical issue in climate change discussions. I am eager to apply my skills and experience to contribute valuable insights into addressing L&D, promoting resilience, and supporting effective responses to environmental challenges.
"Growing up in a coastal village in Bangladesh, I witnessed the harsh realities of extreme weather firsthand. This deep-rooted experience drives my research interest in the broader impacts of climate change on vulnerable communities, aiming to turn personal experience into effective solutions and resilience strategies."

Description: This research aims to investigate the health impacts associated with Non-Economic Loss and Damage (NELD) from climate change, with a particular emphasis on women and girls. Gabura Union, a highly climate-vulnerable area in Bangladesh, faces extreme environmental events such as frequent cyclones, salinity intrusion, erratic monsoons, and coastal erosion, all of which significantly affect local health and well-being. The study will explore how these environmental hazards exacerbate health issues for women, including reproductive health problems and psychological stress, and assess the overall loss and damage to their quality of life. A mixed-method approach will be employed, integrating a comprehensive literature review with empirical data collection. This will include structured household surveys to gather quantitative data on health impacts, coping mechanisms, and access to health services, as well as focus group discussions (FGDs) and Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) to obtain qualitative insights into women’s experiences and resilience strategies. The findings are expected to identify effective coping strategies, evaluate the adequacy of existing responses, and propose actionable recommendations to improve health equity and resilience in Gabura Union. This research will contribute to a deeper understanding of the specific health needs of women and girls affected by climate-induced hazards and offer guidance for enhancing their resilience and well-being.
Geography | M. Sc. in Geography of Environmental Risks and Human Security
2021-10-01 - 2024-03-13
Completed a Master’s program with full funding from the DAAD Development-Related Postgraduate Courses (EPOS) scholarship. Conducted a thesis on “How ‘Non-Economic Loss and Damage from Climate Change’ Features in the IPCC 6th Assessment Report (Working Group II): A Text Mining Analysis,” focusing on analyzing the representation of non-economic loss and damage in key climate assessment reports.
Disaster Management | BSS in Disaster and Human Security Management
2015-02-15 - 2019-01-06
Completed a Bachelor of Social Sciences (BSS) with a thesis titled “(Im)mobility of Environmentally Stressed Farmers: A Case Study of Batiaghata Upazila, Khulna.” This research examined the challenges faced by farmers under environmental stress and their mobility patterns in response to climate-related adversities. Utilizing field surveys, interviews, and data analysis, the study provided insights into the impact of environmental factors on agricultural practices and livelihoods. The program offered a robust foundation in disaster risk management and climate change discourse, enhancing my ability to address complex environmental issues through multidimensional approaches.
