Overview
Sharon Tshipa is a researcher, development practitioner, award-winning multimedia journalist, and award-winning fiction writer. Her research interests are loss and damage, development communication, climate change and health, and education for sustainable development. Tshipa is the co-founder and Chairperson of Botswana Society for Human Development (BSHD), a non-governmental organisation whose work spans four critical areas; climate action, disability and health, humanitarian action, and research. These focus areas reflect the NGO's commitment to tackling some of the most pressing issues facing Botswana and beyond.

The research fellowship was made possible by a travel grant channelled through the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University, USA. I conducted fieldwork in the South Pacific Island of Tonga, undertaking quantitative and qualitative research on the role of information communication technology (ICT) in influencing climate change-conscious developments.
